Kitchen Hacks: Time-Saving Tips and Tricks for the Everyday Individual

Hi friends! I'm back and excited to share some of my favorite kitchen hacks to help you cook faster, smarter, and more efficiently. As a busy individual, myself, I'm always looking for ways to save time and make cooking easier, without sacrificing flavor or nutrition. So, let's dive in!

Hack #1: Frozen Fruits and Veggies

I know what you're thinking (as my Instagram comments LOVE to mention) - "aren't they less nutritious than fresh?" But the truth is, frozen produce is just as nutritious as fresh, and sometimes even more so! When produce is frozen soon after harvesting, the nutrients are locked in, making them just as healthy as their fresh counterparts. Plus, frozen options like onions and peppers are already chopped and ready to go, saving you time on prep work. Having these on hand allows you to avoid food waste and cook with more produce than you may have otherwise.

Hack #2: Pre-Portioned Leftovers

It can feel like a struggle eating the same lunch for work all week, but what if I told you there's a way to mix it up? Try packaging your leftovers into pre-portioned containers, so they're easy to grab and go. And here's the best part - you can freeze some of these portions, so over the weeks, as you make various different meals and freeze some of those too, you can create a rotation of leftover meals. No more repetitive lunch weeks!

Hack #3: Running Grocery List

We all know it can be daunting, but what if I told you there's a way to make it easier? Try keeping a running grocery list on your phone or via alexa, and add items as you run out of them. This way, you'll never forget what you need, and you can avoid last-minute trips to the store. And, if there are items you go through a lot, plan to buy the replacement as soon as you open the new one. This way, you'll always have what you need on hand and keep the "supply chain" system in your house running smoothly.

Hack #4: Prep Your Produce

Last but not least, let's talk about snacking. We all know it's easy to grab a bag of chips or a candy bar, but what if I told you there's a way to make healthy snacking easier? Try washing and cutting up your fruit / veggies as soon as you buy them. While it may feel like "meal prepping," it makes snacking easier, healthier, and more efficient. And, let's be real, it's a lot harder to waste produce when it's already cut up and ready to go!

And there you have it - my top kitchen hacks for cooking faster, smarter, and more efficiently. By incorporating these tips into your cooking routine, you'll save time, reduce waste, and make healthy eating easier than ever.
